Petalburg kind of had a morale issue. Rocket had won, but there was so much work to do with rebuilding and so many displaced civilians that it felt exhausting to stick around. The people that couldn't evacuate were largely unhappy, and their unhappiness was catching. [break][break]

Some of the arts had resumed, so there were small concerts and performances throughout the town. Clover had come to see some spoken word and maybe catch a comedy show, but the artistic renaissance of the town left them feeling inspired to revisit some of their writing, too. Oricorio works through some footwork beside the bench as Clover reads their writing aloud softly: "Even the iron still fears the rot, hiding from something I cannot stop..." [break][break]

He shook his head. "Maybe I should drop the pencil and pick up dancing like you, eh?" Oricorio clapped her wings together in excited agreement as Clover tucked their notepad into their jacket.

As a world traveler, Caspian had learned a great deal many things. Each region was as beautiful as the one before it, each with their own shares of customs and secret wonders. Yet, he had also discovered that there was a force that transcended such borders:

He had come to share a poem of his own making — not his finest, perhaps, but that was the purpose of gatherings like these: to let others judge what he could not, and to shape himself through their verdict.

So much for keeping a pokemon around for protection. Oricorio just let that stranger sneak up on her! [break][break]

She damn near jumped out of her skin, crumbling the paper instinctively and stuffing it into her coat sleeve. "Uh, er. Uh." Intelligible, nice. She looked to Oricorio, who paused, then resumed the dance with greater fervor. Clover sighed. "I like to write," she conceded. "But there's bigger stuff going on, so it's not been my focus." Hard to justify a writing class when there's a war. Still, the battle had inspired many to write out their frustrations, and so there were still numerous poetry slams and other gatherings.[break][break]

"Do you like to write?" She scooted over in the bench in case he wanted a seat. "I think a little art could do the soul some good, sometimes. I've been collecting Oricorio lately because their different dance and movement styles are really refreshing." It was a stupid reason to keep a pokemon around given the conflict, but honesty came naturally to them.
